Mandarin-speaking Business Development Manager

We're looking for a commercially sharp, culturally aware Mandarin-speaking Business Development Manager to lead and grow our China Overseas portfolio across DHL Express UK. In this highly influential role, you will develop new business opportunities, drive growth, build key relationships with China-linked customers, and ensure DHL remains the provider of choice for organisations trading with Mainland China. You will play a pivotal role in accelerating revenue, strengthening customer loyalty, and identifying emerging China market opportunities within air and road express channels.
Responsibilities
Execute DHL's UK Sales Strategy with a specialised focus on China-related import and export customers.
Set strategic objectives that drive profitable growth across both air and road express business.
Develop innovative approaches to position DHL as the leading partner for China-UK solutions.
Produce Sales Force Activity Plans and provide insights into annual Sales Planning and Budget cycles.
Visit customers regularly to support co-selling, capability development and strategic discussions.
Act as a senior escalation point for China-linked customers to ensure smooth service, retention and issue resolution.
Strengthen partnerships with Chinese-owned, China-trading, and China-affiliated businesses operating in the UK.
Provide cultural, linguistic and market-specific insight to deepen customer relationships and accelerate growth.
Utilise the DHL global sales process to manage customer opportunities consistently and effectively.
Conduct forecasting, compare against budget, and provide re-forecast updates during country reviews.
Analyse sales performance (revenue, margin, activity) to guide structured coaching and development.
Collaborate closely with Customer Services, Operations, and other Sales Channels to ensure seamless customer support.

Qualifications & Skills
Fluent in Mandarin (written and spoken) – essential.
Fluent in Cantonese – desired.
2-3 years of business development experience or demonstrated capability.
5+ years of sales experience (transportation, logistics or service industry preferred).
Proven track record of delivering strong sales and marketing success.
Strong customer orientation and ability to build long-term relationships.
High resilience, adaptability and commercial acumen.
Strong planning, organisation and prioritisation skills.
