Manufacturing Engineer – Automation

Northampton | £50,000 – £55,000


Manufacturing / Production or Process Engineer with automation or robotics experience? Join a growing manufacturing business investing heavily in advanced production technology.


We are working with a well-established UK manufacturing business that continues to invest in automation, robotics and advanced manufacturing systems. Due to ongoing growth, they are now looking to appoint a Manufacturing Engineer to support process development, production improvement and automation projects across the site.


This role will play a key part in improving manufacturing performance while supporting robotic welding systems and automated production equipment within a busy manufacturing environment.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the development, optimisation and improvement of manufacturing processes across the facility
  • Supporting automation and robotic welding systems within the production environment
  • Improving manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste
  • Troubleshooting production issues using structured problem-solving techniques
  • Implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitoring and improving production KPIs such as cycle time and OEE
  • Supporting the introduction of new manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Working closely with production, maintenance and engineering teams
  • Supporting robotic cells and PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment
  • Introducing tooling, jigs and fixtures to improve manufacturing performance
  • Supporting trials and validation of new equipment and production processes


Key Skills, Experience & Background

  • Experience in manufacturing engineering, production engineering or process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and process improvement
  • Exposure to automation, robotics or automated production equipment
  • Experience implementing lean manufacturing or continuous improvement tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with production and engineering teams
  • Experience with robotic welding systems or industrial robotics would be highly beneficial.
