A well-established engineering manufacturer in Northampton that is continuing to strengthen its safety culture across site is looking to appoint a Manufacturing Engineer who can support the development, improvement and optimisation of automated processes across the plant.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you will work closely with production, maintenance and engineering teams to improve process capability, support robotic welding systems and drive continuous improvement across the facility.
Responsibilities as Manufacturing Engineer:
  • Supporting and improvingrobotic welding cells and automated production equipment
  • Developing and controllingmanufacturing process documentationincluding PFMEA, Control Plans and Process Instructions
  • Investigating and resolving production issues usingstructured problem-solving tools such as 5 Why and DMAIC
  • Identifying and implementinglean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting theintroduction of new equipment, processes and automation technologies
  • Analysing production data and KPIs to drive improvements in efficiency and quality
  • Supporting tooling, jigs and fixture design where required
What were looking for in a Manufacturing Engineer:
  • A degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience working as aManufacturing Engineer within an industrial production environment
  • Experience withautomation, robotics or automated manufacturing systems
  • Exposure torobotic welding systemswould be highly beneficial
  • Understanding oflean manufacturing and structured problem-solving techniques
  • Experience usingCAD software such as AutoCAD or Creo
  • Exposure toPLC controlled manufacturing equipmentwould be advantageous
