A well-established engineering manufacturer in Northampton that is continuing to strengthen its safety culture across site is looking to appoint a Manufacturing Engineer who can take ownership of H&S-focused projects, improving safety through practical, process-driven solutions.
This is an ideal role for a degree-qualified Engineer with experience leading H&S improvement projects within a manufacturing environment. It is not a compliance-only role. It is about applying expertise to design safer processes, reduce risk and drive real change on the shop floor.
Responsibilities as Manufacturing Engineer:
  • Leading and delivering health & safety improvement projects across manufacturing operations
  • Designing and implementing safer processes, layouts and equipment modifications
  • Reviewing and improving risk assessments,COSHH assessments, RAMS and safe systems of work
  • Supporting incident and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
  • Working closely with EHS, production and engineering teams to embed best practice
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives with a strong focus on risk reduction and compliance
What were looking for in a Manufacturing Engineer:
  • Degree-qualified in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing or similar)
  • Proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Demonstrable experience leading or supporting health & safety improvement projects
  • Strong understanding of COSHH, risk assessments, safe systems of work and incident investigation
  • Ability to influence across production, engineering and leadership teams
  • A practical, hands-on approach to solving safety and process challenges
