Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Bolton
Contract Type: 12-month contract (likely to be extended)
Working Pattern: 37hrs/week, full-time onsite

Rates:

  • Umbrella: £35 per hour

  • PAYE: £26.92 per hour + holiday pay

Morson is currently recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer on behalf of our defence client based in Bolton.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing manufacturing environment, supporting complex products across multiple projects. You will be a key member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, ensuring products are built efficiently, right first time, and to budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile, maintain and update Manufacturing Instructions

  • Design, commission and prove associated tooling

  • Support industrial validation activities, including FMEAs, FAIs and related processes

  • Resolve technical issues arising during the manufacturing process

  • Implement route card changes resulting from rework activities

  • Manage configuration control by embodying design modifications into Manufacturing Instructions

  • Support the Non-Conformance process using SAP

  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to support manufacturing delivery

Skills & Experience Required
  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Apprenticeship (Advanced Level or L3 Standard) AND
  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Level 4 academic qualification (HNC, diploma, etc.) AND
  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Level 3 vocational qualification (NVQ) *Not required if a L3 apprenticeship standard has been achieved OR
  • Degree in a relevant Engineering subject.
  • Ability to interpret design drawings and produce clear Manufacturing Build Instructions for skilled and semi-skilled operators
  • Experience of electronic sub-assembly manufacture through to system-level builds
  • Knowledge of assembly processes for small/miniature electro-mechanical actuation systems
  • Strong team-working capability with the ability to contribute in a collaborative environment
  • Clear understanding of customer requirements and the ability to respond effectively
  • Ability to work to defined company processes and procedures
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage at all levels of the organisation
