Manufacturing Feasibility Engineer
Scope of Services
The Launch Quality Centre Manufacturing Feasibility Engineer is responsible for ensuring that Manufacturing Feasibility is evaluated in line with business process.
Manufacturing Feasibility issues to be presented and agreed cross functionally and the product style and design influenced to support Manufacturing targets & functional deliverables.
Key Deliverables
1. Analysis of final assembly feasibility on future programmes:
1. Review style and design to identify & subsequently resolve manufacturing feasibility concerns and support Manufacturing Functional deliverables i.e. Design For Manufacture best practice, assembly time targets, production quality targets
2. Conduct analysis of part design through virtual and physical studies to provide recommendations, identify issues and support problem resolution.
3. Analyse dimensional management outputs and develop assembly strategies to ensure product quality targets are achieved (Delivery of Gap & Rad plan)
4. Support Virtual Build reviews to validate process hard points and sequence
5. Support Design and Manufacturing Feasibility reviews
6. Support complex problem investigation and resolution
7. Manage KPI’s to support status reporting at key project milestones
8. Support definition of key BIW measurements for collation into Function Mass Catalogue (FMK) including discussions with other Group suppliers, influencing and agreeing changes in FMK.
2. Support concern resolution through business process
1. Clearly define and document concerns/issues via business process
3. Support for Control Build activities
1. Validation of assembly feasibility using reference properties.
2. Analysis on Controlled Build Vehicles.
3. Act as knowledge holder for part design, manufacture & assembly within vehicle zone/module.
4. Identification and development of best practice principles within industry and associated industries.
a) Benchmarking of design, manufacturing and assembly methods
b) Development of knowledge though technical literature and industry related
research
5. Ensure the development / application of new technology & techniques
1. Identify & contribute where appropriate with the introduction of new technology & techniques in the support of deliverables
Skills/Experience of LTD Company staff
Automotive industry experience within a Manufacturing or Engineering environment (similar experience within associated industries considered)
Practical & Technical Knowledge:
* Strong working knowledge of component design, manufacture and assembly processes/techniques
* Strong working knowledge of design for assembly principles including lean manufacturing techniques
* Logical and structured approach to problem identification and resolution
* Appreciation of CATIA V5 and Virtual Build tools
* Appreciation of measurement techniques
* Appreciation of dimensional management analysis
Qualifications of LTD Company staff
* HNC / Degree qualification or equivalent in a Manufacturing, Engineering or Science related subject
* German speaking would be preferable not essential
* Member of related professional institute would be preferable not essential
