Manufacturing / Industrial Engineer (90-Day Contract) Location: Birmingham, AL area Pay: $50–$58/hour (based on experience)
Overview We’re seeking a hands-on Manufacturing / Industrial Engineer for a 90-day contract to drive immediate improvements on the production floor. This role is focused on work measurement, labor optimization, and process efficiency, with a strong emphasis on time studies and standardization.
The ideal candidate can quickly assess current operations, establish accurate labor standards, and implement sustainable improvements that increase throughput and reduce waste.
What You’ll Do
Conduct time studies and work measurement analysis to establish and validate labor standards Analyze workflows, identify inefficiencies, and improve line balance and labor utilization Develop, document, and improve standard work and process consistency Identify and resolve production issues using data-driven root cause analysis Drive improvements in material flow, workstation layout, and overall process efficiency Support fixture and tooling improvements to enhance repeatability and productivity Partner cross-functionally (Operations, Quality, Engineering) to eliminate bottlenecks Deliver measurable improvements in throughput, cycle time, and cost within the contract period
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (Industrial ) 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering Strong experience with time studies, labor standards, and line balancing Proven ability to analyze data and translate it into actionable process improvements Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies Hands-on, floor-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills Experience with tooling, fixtures, or process validation is a plus Strong communication and organizational skills
