Walker Group provides advanced high-precision manufacturing services from centres of excellence located in the UK and Poland. We are seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our team in Basildon.


As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving manufacturing processes to ensure products are produced efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality to troubleshoot issues, optimise workflows, and introduce process improvements that reduce waste, enhance productivity, and control costs. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to translate technical knowledge into practical, scalable solutions on the factory floor.


Manufacturing Process Engineer Key Responsibilities:


  • Produce, update, maintain manufacturing documentation
  • Familiar with ERP/MRP systems
  • Interpret Engineering drawings and understand GDT
  • Knowledge of machining process and specifications
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials and surface treatments
  • Produce estimates
  • Experience of NPI
  • Identify tooling requirements for assembly and inspection
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Support external design teams to aid DFM/DFMA of their new products
  • Liaise with external design teams to resolve product technical issues


Manufacturing Process Engineer Knowledge, Skills & Experience:


  • Good experience of processes and product to allow a level of independent working
  • Good organisational skills, demonstrated through ability to plan and prioritise
  • Range of technical skills
  • Ability to challenge and question existing processes based on knowledge and experience
  • Can demonstrate initiative with a flexible approach to all types of work
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing processes (desirable)
  • Working knowledge 3D CAD software (desirable)
  • Knowledge of 4/5 axis machine tool programming/ISO G-Code (desirable)
