Maths Teaching AssistantDo you want classroom experience in Maths before applying for teacher training? Could you deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group support that improves confidence and attainment across KS3 and KS4?*** Maths Teaching Assistant *** September 2026 – July 2027 *** £85 - £105 per day *** ‘Good’ secondary school, Ward of Edgbaston *** 1:1 and small group support across KS3 & KS4 MathsThe Role: Work with the Maths department to help pupils close gaps in numeracy, algebra, ratio, problem solving, and exam technique. You will provide 1:1 support, run small-group interventions, reinforce classwork, support revision, and help pupils build confidence with key mathematical methods. You will also prepare concise resources, track pupil response, and share clear feedback with teachers. Teaching assistants commonly work with individual pupils and small groups, help prepare materials, and report progress back to staff.The Candidate: You hold a degree, communicate clearly, and can explain Maths in simple, manageable steps. You are organised, calm, and keen to build practical school experience before moving into teacher training or another education-based career.Requirements
- Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
- Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
- Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate. Roles involving regulated activity with children can require an Enhanced DBS check, with a Children’s Barred List check where applicable.
- Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Experience working with children – Any relevant experience such as tutoring, mentoring, coaching or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
