Location: Preston
The Role - Working as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team supporting nuclear fuel production on a large manufacturing process plant.
This position is responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical systems within a nuclear facility. The Mechanical Craftsman will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe and efficient completion of all mechanical tasks within the project timeline and budget, adhering to strict nuclear safety regulations.
Description/Scope of work
Provision of engineering skills to internal/external customers to agreed standards.
Contribute to maintenance of production/project programmes.
Contribute to the improvement of a safe environment/general housekeeping of the working area, particularly in their own area of responsibility.
Active involvement in improvement projects/initiatives.
Maintain awareness of the developments in own trade and apply to workplace where appropriate.
Where appropriate, assist in the training and development of others to appropriate standards.
Complies with all legislative, regulatory and company policy standards and procedures e.g. safety, quality, risk, security etc. applicable to the role. Key Responsibilities you may be required to undertake:
Installation and Assembly:
○ Install and assemble new mechanical components
○ Align and balance rotating equipment
○ Assist in the installation and alignment of equipment
Maintenance and Repair:
○ Diagnose and repair mechanical equipment failures.
○ Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical systems.
○ Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during commissioning.
Required experience / qualifications:
Recognised apprenticeship (Mechanical discipline)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
