Job Description
Role: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: Up to £55,000
KO2s are working in partnership with a well-established engineering business in the Chesterfield area who are looking to strengthen their design team with an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to work on bespoke engineering projects within a highly technical, project-driven environment.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design of mechanical systems and equipment, supporting projects from concept through to production and installation.
Key responsibilities include:
Generating new design concepts and presenting them to a range of technical and non-technical audiences
Producing engineering data to support designs with a focus on cost efficiency and manufacturability
High-quality 3D modelling and 2D detailing using SolidWorks
Creating, managing and updating Bills of Materials (BOMs) with issue-level control
Supporting production build and installation teams as required
About You
We’re looking for a proactive, self-motivated engineer with a strong background in mechanical design and a passion for delivering projects on time.
Essential requirements:
Proven experience in a similar Mechanical Design role
Strong SolidWorks experience (3D modelling & 2D drawings)
Experience working in a design-led engineering environment
Knowledge of precision engineering and BS8888
Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience designing fixtures, enclosures and sheet metal components
Awareness and understanding of common manufacturing processes
Experience creating and managing BOMs
Desirable (Not Essential):
Experience designing bespoke test equipment, automation or control systems
Electromechanical design experience
5+ years’ SolidWorks experience
