Overview
A specialist engineering business operating in the high-pressure equipment and special purpose machinery sector is seeking a Design Engineer or Senior Designer to support the development of bespoke pressure systems supplied into regulated industries including energy, subsea, nuclear and chemical.
The role offers involvement across the full project lifecycle, from concept through to build and commissioning.
The Role
You will design and develop pressure vessels, pressure control systems and associated mechanical equipment, working closely with customers, sales, procurement and manufacturing. You will participate in design reviews, support manufacturing during build and commissioning, and contribute to early-stage project scoping where required. All work will be carried out in line with the company QMS, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Design pressure-related equipment
* Interpret customer and regulatory requirements
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and codes
* Select suitable materials, coatings and finishes
* Carry out design reviews and technical analysis
Skills & Experience
* Strong 3D CAD capability (SolidWorks )
* Industry experience or similar
* Basic FEA knowledge (ANSYS )
* Confident with engineering hand calculations desirable
* Good understanding of machining, welding and fabrication processes
* Experience using document control systems
Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
* Background in bespoke machinery or engineered systems

* Comfortable working independently and within a team
* Strong communication skills with customers and internal stakeholders
* Flexible approach to deadlines and occasional travel
