Job Description

Due to success and significant sustained growth my client are now recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their successful team.\n\nThe Role\n\n * To design and oversee special purpose machine projects from order acceptance to customer hand over\n\n * To be responsible for the design and detailing of projects\n\n * To communicate effectively to customers, suppliers and team members\n\n * To be responsible for the successful delivery of each project\n\n * To be part of a team dedicated to delivering projects to plan and to budget\n\nKey Tasks\n\n * To attend sales hand over meetings and commit to an overall project plan and budget\n\n * To perform mechanical design and detailing functions for projects allocated to you using 3D CAD within the time allocated in the project plan\n\n * To arrange Design Reviews during design to ensure design is well executed, meets overall requirements, designed for assembly, robust & reliable operation, is designed to meet or better budget, minimise any development issues, etc\n\n * To obtain a Design Pass Off by the customer on time and to project plan\n\n * To ensure Design Bill of Materials are produced on time and within budget\n\n * To negotiate with external suppliers and obtain the most cost-efficient materials in line with project budgets and time plans\n\n * To assist the electrical design process by communicating clearly and effectively through the duration of the project and especially through the mechanical design phase\n\n * To visit customer sites to obtain measurements for all dimensions, drawings, site layouts, sample products and all other considerations required for the design to\n\nCandidate Profile\n\n * Competence in mechanical design, robotics, automation, design of mechanical mechanisms and pneumatic systems would be an advantage:\n\n * Degree qualified/HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline\n\n * Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical design role ideally related to automation machinery.\n\n * Expert user of 3D parametric CAD package, ideally Solid-edge however use of Solid-works, Inventor, Creo etc would also be considered\n\nInterested?
