Mechanical Services Design Engineer
Northampton
We are working with a well-established, services contractor who is seeking an experienced Mechanical Services Design Engineer to join their in-house design team based in Northampton.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of residential-led projects including high-rise residential developments, student accommodation and hotels, within a dynamic design & build environment.
The successful candidate will contribute to delivering technically compliant, coordinated and commercially viable mechanical and public health designs from concept through to handover.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:

Developing mechanical and public health designs through all project stages up to BSRIA Stage 6.
*
Supporting the estimating team during design & build tender submissions.
*
Providing technical support throughout installation and commissioning phases through to project completion.
*
Liaising with specialist subcontractors, manufacturers and suppliers to ensure correct plant specification and application.
*
Proposing alternative design solutions to enhance value, buildability and performance.
*
Monitoring and reporting design progress.
*
Attending and contributing to internal and external project meetings.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
*
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and public health building services design.
*
An understanding of the Building Safety Act and compliance requirements for Higher Risk Buildings.
*
Commercial awareness with experience designing in line with cost plans and budgets.
*
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
*
Strong coordination and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.
*
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
*
Minimum Level 4/5 qualification in Building Services Engineering (HNC/HND or equivalent).
*
Professional membership (or working towards) desirable.
