Job Description
Mechanical Drawing Engineer
Trowbridge (Full-Time Office Based)
£35–£40 per hour
12 Month Contract
We’re supporting an established engineering business in Trowbridge who require a Mechanical Drawing Engineer for a 12-month assignment.
This role will focus on transitioning legacy mechanical drawings into SolidWorks, supporting ongoing product updates and engineering improvements.
The Role
You’ll play a key part in modernising existing design documentation, working with historical drawings and converting them into accurate 3D models and updated technical drawing packs.
Key responsibilities:
Converting legacy 2D drawings into SolidWorks 3D models
Updating and revising existing mechanical drawings
Creating detailed manufacturing drawings
Supporting engineering change requests (ECR / ECN)
Ensuring drawing standards and documentation accuracy
Liaising with production and engineering teams to clarify legacy designs
This is a hands-on CAD-focused position with minimal design-from-scratch work — ideal for someone strong in drawing interpretation and detail accuracy.
Experience Required

Industrial products
You should have:
Strong SolidWorks experience (modelling + drawings)
Background in mechanical drawing / detailing
Ability to interpret older / legacy drawing formats
Good understanding of tolerances and manufacturing processes
Experience working within engineering drawing standards
