Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Worksop, UK | Full-time (Mon–Fri, 40 hours) Our client is an established UK-based engineering manufacturer, specialising in the design and build of specialist vehicles and equipment. The role You’ll join a growing engineering team focused on the design and development of complex vehicle-based systems and associated equipment. This is a hands-on role covering the full design lifecycle, from concept through to production support, with direct involvement in manufacturing and build environments. Key responsibilities 3D CAD design and production of detailed engineering drawings Concept design and development of components, fabrications, machined parts, and general assemblies Creation and maintenance of engineering documentation and project files Updating drawings and designs in line with continuous improvement activities Providing engineering support to production, resolving build and design issues Requirements Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, kinematics or other complex mechanical systems Strong grounding in mechanical engineering principles Proficiency in 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor or similar) Experience designing mechanisms involving linkages, pivots, and actuators Good understanding of fabrication, machining, and weld design Ability to carry out manual calculations (stress, strain, force analysis) Experience with FEA Practical experience within a manufacturing or production environment Understanding of engineering change processes and ISO 9001 Minimum of 3 years’ experience xehkeey in a design engineering role Desirable Experience with vehicle or mobile equipment design Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics Familiarity with vehicle regulations, CE marking, and machinery directives Experience using AutoCAD Profile High attention to detail and methodical approach Able to manage workload independently and deliver to deadlines Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally Proactive, hands-on, and solution-oriented mindset
