Job Description

Join a respected manufacturer known for developing high-quality engineered products. We’re seeking a Mechanical Design Manager to standardise and streamline processes that take concepts from idea through to production.\n\nRole Overview:\nLead a small, multi-disciplinary design team to ensure concepts move efficiently from idea to production. Drive innovation, maintain high standards, and implement repeatable processes that improve quality, cost, and manufacturability.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nLead and coach the design team, managing multiple product projects.\n\nStandardise design-to-production workflows, ensuring consistency and efficiency.\n\nTranslate creative concepts into functional, manufacturable products.\n\nMaintain product data, BOMs, and design documentation.\n\nApply DFM principles and value-engineering to optimise products.\n\nSupport production launches and provide technical guidance across teams.\n\nResearch new materials, processes, and technologies to enhance products.\n\nEnsure regulatory compliance and manage design governance.\n\nCandidate Requirements:\n\nMechanical design background\n\nExperience implementing processes\n\n5+ years leading engineering/design teams\n\nKnowledge of GD&T highly beneficial\n\nProven experience taking products from concept through to production\n\nKnowledge of metal manufacturing techniques, including machining, fabrication, and welding\n\nHands-on, pragmatic problem-solver with a process-driven mindset\n\nStrong leadership, organisational, and communication skills\n\nThe Package:\n\nCompetitive salary circa £60k per annum, candidates meeting all requirements may earn up to £70k
