About the Company The company is a well-established M&E Building Services contractor delivering mechanical and electrical installations across commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, leisure, and public sector environments. With a healthy pipeline of repeat business and negotiated work, pre-construction remains a key function within the business, playing a critical role in securing and delivering high-quality projects. The Role As Mechanical Estimator / Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will take responsibility for preparing accurate, competitive, and commercially robust mechanical building services tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission and project handover. You will be responsible for pricing mechanical packages including HVAC systems, plantrooms, heating systems, chilled water systems, ventilation, pipework, and public health services across a varied portfolio of projects. Projects typically range from £100k through to larger multi-million-pound installations across sectors such as commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and fit-out. Working closely with Directors and Project Managers, you will play a key role in reviewing tender opportunities, assessing risk, identifying value engineering opportunities, and ensuring all submissions are both technically and commercially sound. This role offers a high level of autonomy and would suit an individual confident in managing tenders independently while contributing to the wider pre-construction strategy. This role would suit candidates currently working as: Mechanical Estimator, Senior Mechanical Estimator, Mechanical Building Services Estimator, M&E Estimator, Mechanical Pre-Construction Estimator, or Mechanical Cost Planner. Key Responsibilities Preparing detailed mechanical building services tenders from drawings and specifications Producing accurate take-offs, cost plans, and tender documentation Pricing HVAC systems, plantrooms, heating, ventilation, chilled water, pipework, and public health installations Obtaining, reviewing, and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations Reviewing technical documentation and identifying value engineering opportunities Undertaking risk analysis and commercial appraisal of tender submissions Supporting tender presentations and internal commercial reviews Working closely with delivery teams to ensure a smooth and effective project handover About You Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within an M&E Building Services contractor environment Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, pipework, plantrooms, heating, and ventilation systems Experience pricing building services projects across sectors such as commercial, healthcare, education, or industrial Strong understanding of pre-construction, tendering processes, and commercial project delivery Experience using estimating software such as Ensign or similar platforms would be advantageous Commercially astute, detail-oriented, and confident producing accurate and competitive tenders Able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment Remuneration Package Mechanical Estimator £60,000 £75,000 Company Car or £5,000 Car Allowance Profit Related Bonus Scheme Workplace Pension 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays Next Steps Please apply online today, or contact Rob at David Leslie Ltd for an informal and confidential discussion. xehkeey About David Leslie Ltd David Leslie Ltd is a family-run construction recruitment consultancy with over 20 years experience connecting professionals and employers across the UK.
