Mechanical Estimator
Romford, Essex
£50,000-£70,000 per annum
An established and growing M&E contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join its mechanical estimating team based in Romford.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a well-structured and expanding division, offering clear progression into senior and management-level roles within a supportive and experienced leadership team.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for pricing mechanical services tenders across a range of sectors, working on projects typically valued between £1m and £20m. The role requires strong technical understanding, commercial awareness, and the ability to produce accurate and competitive tenders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation and submission of mechanical tenders from first principles
  • Pricing projects ranging from £1m-£20m
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
  • Preparing detailed take-offs, labour plans, and cost breakdowns
  • Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
  • Identifying risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost savings
  • Supporting tender adjudications and handover to delivery teams
  • Working closely with senior estimators and commercial management
Candidate Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the UK M&E sector
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services systems
  • Experience pricing mid-to-large scale mechanical packages
  • Good understanding of current market rates and procurement strategies
  • Strong IT skills, including estimating software and Microsoft Excel

  • Commercially astute with a methodical approach to tendering
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced estimating environment

  • £50,000-£70,000 salary, depending on experience
