Candour Talent are recruiting a Mechanical Fitter to join their client’s team in Ebbw Vale.

* Employment Type: Full Time/Permanent

* Working Hours: Mon-Fri – 3-shift pattern (Mornings, Afternoons, Nights)

* Salary: £41k + OT

After a period of sustained growth and major investment, our client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their team in the Ebbw Vale area.

The successful candidate will be joining a world-leading manufacturer renowned for product quality and industry-leading standards and would be part of a small well-established engineering team that oversees the smooth running of production operations in the manufacturing facility. It is an exciting time to join the company, and this role comes with long-term security and growth opportunities.

Previous mechanical fitter, mechanical maintenance, and/or mechanical engineering experience is essential, and experience in manufacturing and/or heavy industry, an advantage. Please note that this role requires demanding personal protective equipment (PPE), access to communal shower facilities, the successful completion of pre-employment medical assessments, and regular drug/alcohol testing.

The Role:

* Work in a small engineering team to follow a planned maintenance schedule on a range of production machinery, including motors, gearboxes, conveyor systems, fillers, ovens, and hydraulics/pneumatics

* Fault finding and emergency repairs to resume production as soon as possible in the event of any breakdowns

* Upgrade and maintain existing equipment to ensure optimal performance

* Help with the installation of new equipment

* Provide support to the project department when needed

* Provide support with any continuous improvement initiatives

* Adhere to H&S and compliance standards onsite

The Ideal Candidate:

* Relevant mechanical engineering qualification i.e. NVQ Level 3 or HNC etc, and/or extensive and demonstrable hands-on experience in a similar role

* Apprenticeship indentures in a manufacturing or industrial environment

* Basic welding and fabricating skills, an advantage

* Some basic machine shop and tool room skills (lathes, milling equipment, drills, cutting, burning, and welding) an advantage

* Maintenance experience in a hazardous environment or heavy industry preferred
