Mechanical Maintenance Engineer - Sheffield

Stafforce Recruitment are proud to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly regarded steel manufacturing business based in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a large, heavy industrial site offering long-term stability, strong earning potential and a structured shift pattern.

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off - 12-hour days and nights (6am-6pm / 6pm-6am)

Salary: £46,000 per annum

The Role

Working as part of the site engineering function, you'll support the mechanical maintenance requirements of a busy steel manufacturing operation. This is a hands-on role with exposure to a wide range of plant and equipment.

Key responsibilities include:

Attending mechanical breakdowns and diagnosing faults across varied plant and equipment
Supporting operations across steelmaking, casting and finishing areas when required
Using mobile plant to assist engineering and operational activities
Responding to first-line maintenance issues, carrying out safe and effective repairs
Completing planned maintenance tasks and contributing to continuous improvement of maintenance schedules
Ensuring all health & safety procedures, documentation and PPE requirements are strictly followed
Keeping systems such as Agility up to date and ensuring clear handovers to the oncoming shift

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:

Previous experience within a heavy industrial or manufacturing engineering environment
Apprentice-trained or time-served Mechanical Engineer / Fitter background
Experience of both preventative and reactive maintenance
A proactive, enthusiastic and self-motivated approach
The ability to work independently or as part of a wider engineering team
Strong communication skills to liaise with engineers, operators and shift management
A solid understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements
