Job Description

On behalf of our client near Knaresborough, we are recruiting a Mechanical Fitter to join a Waste Treatment Plant on a full-time basis, initially for 3 months.

You will support the Mechanical Maintenance Team and Lead Engineer, carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance, fault-finding, fabrication work, and assisting with planned outages while maintaining high health, safety, and quality standards.

Shift Pattern

  • Week 1: MonFri, 8am4pm

  • Week 2: MonFri, 10pm6am

Key Duties

  • Maintain and repair conveyor belts, pumps, gearboxes, valves, and cranes

  • Carry out fabrication and workshop duties

  • Complete PPM and reactive maintenance

  • Use CMMS systems and support maintenance KPIs

  • Follow all H&S, quality, and environmental procedures

Requirements

  • Time-served Mechanical Fitter

  • Mechanical Apprenticeship

  • NVQ Level 3 / BTEC in Maintenance Engineering or equivalent

  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, and mechanical drawings

  • Strong understanding of safe systems of work

  • IOSH Managing Safely (desirable)
