The Opportunity

My client is a specialist mechanical contractor delivering high-quality maintenance services across government contracts, and they are now looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor.

The Role

This is a hybrid position with a 50/50 split between hands-on engineering and client-facing/ engineering responsibilities. It will suit a technically strong supervisor who enjoys being on the tools while also leading teams and building client relationships.

You will play a key role in delivering maintenance across a portfolio of government sites, ensuring high standards, compliance, and client satisfaction at all times.

Essential Requirements

Mechanical Engineering background (essential)
Proven experience in commercial mechanical maintenance
Strong experience working with:
Steam boilers and steam systems
Steam traps
Calorifiers
Plate heat exchangers
Plant rooms and associated pipework
Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role
Strong client-facing and communication skills
Good understanding of health & safety and compliance
Full UK driving licence
Key Responsibilities

Technical & Operational (50%)

Carry out and supervise planned and reactive maintenance across commercial mechanical systems
Work on and oversee systems including:
Steam boilers and steam systems
Steam traps
Calorifiers
Plate heat exchangers
Pipework systems and plant rooms
Diagnose faults and ensure effective, compliant repairs
Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and workmanship

Supervisory & Client-Facing (50%)

Act as a key point of contact for clients across government contracts
Build strong, professional relationships and ensure a high level of service delivery
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers
Manage scheduling, resources, and workforce planning
Ensure KPIs and SLAs are consistently achieved
Support compliance, reporting, and audits
