Mechanical Technician

Our client, a successful manufacturing business close to Norwich, are currently seeking a Mechanical Technician to join their team, working alongside the Workshop Manager.
This is a full time permanent position, based in Norwich.

Hours:
Basic hours 8:00am 17.00pm Mon
Due to seasonal variations within the business these hours are regularly extended in the Winter, or may be reduced in the Summer.

Key Responsibilities
Take the lead in assembly of high-quality mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and frameworks
Responsible for ensuring the efficient production of our bespoke products safely, on time, cost effectively and to the high standards of quality our customers have come to expect.
Read detailed CAD models and drawings for bespoke components and assemblies.
Recommend innovative solutions for complex mechanical challenges.
Ensure designs meet functional, safety, and compliance requirements.
Provide technical input during prototype builds and production runs.
Resolve design and process issues quickly to maintain project timelines.
Communicate technical concepts clearly to internal teams.
Support client reviews and incorporate feedback into design iterations.
Ensure all products meet company and regulatory quality standards.
Maintain compliance with industry regulations, health, and safety standards.
Check and maintain all lifting and air equipment to ensure compliance with HSE regulations.
Ensure adherence to quality standards and certifications (such as ISO9001, ISO14001), driving the quality improvement processes.
Take ownership for team cohesion.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:
Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship Level 3 or above.
10+ years in mechanical engineering within a technical manufacturing environment
Sufficiently mobile and flexible to occasionally travel to customers both within and outside the UK when required.
Able to spend one or two nights away per month if required
Must have clean or near clean driving license.
Understanding and experience of manufacturing processes and technical information.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
Understanding and experience of Health and Safety practices.
Ability to lead teams and train individuals.

Preferred Skills
Strong understanding of materials, machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.
Ability to work on custom, low-volume projects with tight deadlines.
Working knowledge of Microsoft packages particularly Excel, Word, Internet and email.
Familiarity with ISO quality standards and CE/UKCA compliance.
Strong problem-solving and hands-on approach to prototyping.
