Here at NCHA we are looking for compassionate and enthusiastic Mental Health Support Workers to join our friendly and supportive Care & Support team in Newark.
Lombard Street and Lombard Community Flats - Newark
Lombard Street in Newark has 2 Mental Health Supported Living Services. Colleagues will support the residents in both short and longer-term support, to maximise their independent living skills whilst supporting them to manage and maintain their mental health and well-being. Every person we support has individual care plans specific to their needs so the range of support needed will be diverse and varied.
What you will be doing:
* Writing, reviewing support plans and risk assessments and updating daily records
* Giving practical and emotional support which may include budgeting, shopping, domestic duties, community-based activities and support to access educational or vocational opportunities
* Work as a team and liaise with the external care teams to meet the needs of the service users
* Maintain a healthy physical environment for service users and colleagues
What we need from you:
* Ideally you will live locally or be familiar with the local area to help provide the required support. You will be able to work in a rotating shift pattern. You must be able to get yourself to and from work - please note public transport options are limited
* You will have an ability to handle sometimes challenging situations and be resilient, whilst having a creative attitude to promote positive change
* You will be an effective communicator with a professional approach
* It would be great if you have some previous experience in a similar role but ultimately, if you can show compassion and empathy, be punctual, professional and enthusiastic we can train you to do the job
The shifts:
Lombard Street is a 24-hour service, so flexibility is key!
Day shifts run between 7am and 10:00pm, and night shifts are from 9:45pm to 7:00am.
Typical patterns include early shifts (7am - 2:15pm), late shifts (2pm - 10:00pm), and mid shifts start around 10am or 11am and finish between 6pm and 8pm.
If you use public transport, it’s helpful to know that most daytime work starts at 7am and can finish as late as 10:00pm. Whilst sleep-in shifts are currently on hold, they may return in the future, so there’s always room for variety!
Lone working may also be required as part of this role.
