Caudwell is the luxury property development company founded by English businessman and Phones 4U entrepreneur John Caudwell in 2008. The company has an extensive property portfolio with prime residential developments in the UK and the South of France.

After acquiring the Audley Square site in Mayfair, the celebrated American architect, Robert AM Stern, was appointed to design a new building to reflect John’s ambition. Planning permission was granted in 2016 and construction commenced in August 2020 with a scheduled construction completion date of Q1 2026, With the design of individual apartments expected to go into 2030.
The development of some 30,700 sqm will have a transformational effect on the Mayfair landscape by introducing a beautifully designed building with contextual architectural references throughout. The 29 individual residences are designed on a grand scale comprising penthouses, townhouses and spacious lateral apartments, many with their own private amenities.
In Cap d’Antibes, France the company has two completed luxury developments which compromise of apartments and penthouses known as Parc du Cap, Les Oliviers and La Belle Etoile an exquisite recently completed Villa. Works are well advanced on Le Provencal, involving the conversion of the iconic former hotel into 35 sumptuous penthouses, garden houses & apartments that will define a new standard of luxury and design in French Riviera living. Construction of the project is scheduled for completion in Q2 2025, the design element of vendors own apartments circa 2030.
Through its projects, Caudwell aims to be synonymous with the very finest in luxury residential developments on the global stage.
In October 2025 Caudwell announced the appointment of Dorchester Collection to manage luxury services for 1 Mayfair.
A project specific role relating to the development of Audley Square. Audley Square House is the legacy project for John Caudwell and this individual will aspire to the high standards expected of the project and their colleagues. Beyond the project this individual will form part of the Development Delivery Team for the Caudwell Ltd who currently have a portfolio of projects in London and the South of France.
To lead various aspects of the MEP construction and installation for the Audley Square development being delivered by Caudwell Ltd. This individual will work closely with the delivery team for the project, the directors of the Caudwell Group, other project stakeholders and the relevant supply chain. They will always ensure that the project is safe and being delivered to the financial and highest quality specification agreed.
The successful candidate will be highly competent and confident in all technical aspects of complex and high value construction and have experience in multiple types of contracts and sectors. They will be an excellent communicator and be able to build empathy with all other parties and be able to effectively manage colleagues, 3rd party stakeholders and representatives from market leading contractors in the supply chain.
At all times the MEP Construction Manager will be expected to operate autonomously and without the need for regular input from the wider delivery team (although support is certainly available). They will take a strategic view to project delivery, working towards the end goal and ensuring that the delivery teams are always focused to ensure quality whilst always protecting the commercial interests of Caudwell Ltd.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Director of MEPH, the successful individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the building services out for the Audley Square development, taking a commercially minded approach to the delivery of the project, and operating autonomously.
- The MEP Construction Manager will form part of the Project delivery team for Audley House and will be expected to contribute to the proactive and collaborative management culture being adopted.
- Manage key relationships with the supply chain to include all consultants involved in design and engineering and overseeing a main contractor or directly procured sub-contractors to manage the installation.
- Supporting the project team with technical and commercial advice, the MEP Construction Manager will also be involved in the procurement of relevant contractors, sub-contractors and specialist trades where appropriate.
- Committed to achieving the highest standards of Health & Safety, Welfare and Sustainability through promoting collaborative working and continued progressive improvement. It would be of benefit for the successful candidate to hold a CSCS card holder and have NEBOSH training as well as being up to speed with current CDM regulations.
- Liaise closely with the company’s corporate Safety Leadership Team and Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Contractors Steering Group.
- Able to manage and drive change across the project lifecycle.
- Work with the construction and development team to collaboratively identify and manage risk in a proactive manner.
- Manage the commissioning and validation of all systems post installation to ensure smooth handover to the end user.
- Act as the interface between the project and the utilities to ensure timely and seamless transition and connection through the build process.
- Ensuring that the success of the project is always at the forefront of any decisions, both financially and operationally.
- Ensure Caudwell Ltd and end user occupier satisfaction with the end product.
- Involvement in sourcing and procuring specialist materials, and equipment relating to high specification finishes as required.
- Working with external design team to ensure best in class technical solutions are adopted.
- Review of technical designs and specifications.
- Participate in tendering and awarding process.
- Tracking works and defining action plans to achieve objectives and deadlines.
- Liaise with building management and maintenance team at handover, including review of preventative maintenance plans and implementation.
Experience:
- Proven experience as a MEP Construction Manager within a recognised UK contracting or development organisation – sector experience is likely to include high end residential, hospitality or heritage projects.
- Experience of delivering significant projects with a high MEP element in some capacity as either project lead or deputy project lead, including key involvement in the handover and delivery phase.
- Potentially working as an Operations Manager overseeing the delivery of multiple projects of smaller value but where the quality and technical content and programme implications are very high.
- Strong customer focus and a reputation for delivering exceptional quality, on time and on budget.
- Excellent reputation amongst the supply chain in London and able to draw upon existing relationships to benefit the project.
- To have an in-depth understanding of the construction process with a particular emphasis on super prime residential.
- Experience of Landlord & Tenant liaison as part of the fit-out change process.
- Commercially astute.
- Experienced at writing design briefs.
- Experience of working with asset management team.
- Excellent understanding of building regulations and best practice standards in construction and property management.
- Highly organised and an eye for detail.
- Track record of providing outstanding customer service.
- Experience of BIM implementation and O&M manuals review.
Cultural Requirements
- Articulate and an excellent communicator; able to listen and influence through persuasion. The supply chain will be mature and highly reputable in their respective sectors – it is key that the MEP Manager will be able to effectively converse, manage expectations and keep all parties informed at all times.
- Approachable and accessible; the MEP Construction Manager will be expected to react at short notice and liaise with the Directors and Owners of Caudwell Ltd. Equally, relationships will be developed with high-net-worth individuals who will become the end occupiers of Audley Square. This individual needs to be comfortable liaising with them and their representatives when required.
- Strength of character is vital to be in tune with the Caudwell culture. The MEP Construction Manager will be assertive and not afraid to stand their ground on issues. It is an important trait to know when to get involved and when to back away.
- Enthusiastic and energetic; able to motivate others and be a good manager - but above all a genuine leader. Be able to motivate a team and be seen as a credible leader, the team want to look up to this person and see a clear track record of success.
- Honest at all times, making sure that the stage of the project is accurately reported at all times.
- Focused on delivering excellence to customers and focused on long term relationships. They will be exceptionally hard working and willing to go the extra mile.
- Passionate about MEP design & construction and asset management.
- The MEP Construction Manager will be a dynamic and robust character, able to deal with change at relatively short notice and react to decisions made by the Caudwell Properties board. As well as reacting to change, they will also be expected to proactively seek improvements to process and delivery.
- Be at ease in dealing with people at all levels, within and outside the company, with the confidence to speak their mind and challenge in an authoritative manner.
