Merchandise Financial Planner
Contract: 12 month fixed‑term contract
Location: Flexible hybrid working style with three days in the London office
The MFP team owns the local MFP & OTB process for the business. The Merchandise financial planning specialist is the main contributor to the Global Buy Reviews and Open‑To‑Buys meeting of the cluster, responsible for managing planning processes to improve MFP & OTB methods for forecast accuracy and sales & stock efficiency.
Responsibilities
Own the financial and qualitative merchandise plans by channel
Translate global merchandising strategies to local seasonal financial objectives
Identify local areas of potential and unexplored opportunities to maximise sales, make stock turn efficient and enhance positive margin trends
Keep up to date OTB plans and review monthly with the Global team
Weekly review of merchandise OTB plan versus the latest estimate financial expectations
Key stakeholder in communicating key dates of the promotional plan to the Global MFP/OTB team
Prepare analysis and files for cross‑functional meetings with finance to ensure right visibility and knowledge of the merchandising strategy and OTB plans
Collaborate with local finance in budget setting and review to secure the merchandising bottom‑up forecast in the final budget targets
Responsible for reviewing and updating the Open‑to‑Buy plans
Cross‑functionally align with finance and senior leadership to set stock and DP targets aligned with sales expectations
Lead the cluster Global Buy Review and review investment strategies relative to local forecast, insights and current sales trends
Communicate all merchandise plan data to Global MFP
Monitor and analyse financial performance, suggesting actions to achieve sales and profitability targets
Analyse current inventory trends in the cluster and identify actions to optimise KPIs
Prepare weekly/monthly reports detailing all channel performance and actions
Tightly collaborate with Global merchandising for implementation of financial strategy
Work closely with cluster finance and sales department to understand potential for expansion of collection/category and changes in the network to plan accordingly
Qualifications
Experience in merchandising and/or merchandising planning in a multi/omni‑channel company
Experience and passion for the cluster retail market with a deep understanding of seasonality and customer
Proactive in planning to achieve targets and objectives that yield profitable outcomes
Strong communication skills with business stakeholders
Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
Delivery focused with excellent attention to detail and a strong drive to resolve issues
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
Respects individuals’ views and positively contributes to a learning environment
Behaves consistently and with integrity, realising everyone's potential
