Job Description
We’re looking for a Metering Engineer to join our Sustainability team at Birmingham Airport. In this role, you’ll support our journey toward real-time metering and net zero carbon by 2033, carrying out the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of electric meters and dataloggers across the airport. You’ll also ensure compliance with safety regulations, support energy management initiatives, and act as a credible ambassador for BHX, helping to drive operational efficiency and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Install, repair, remove, and replace electric meters and dataloggers. Support the development and implementation of a metering asset register, asset management plan, policy, and strategy. Identify and deliver energy-saving initiatives and share best practice. Conduct ongoing maintenance, quality, and compliance checks on all BHX meters. Act as point of contact for metering queries and support the Capital Programme with effective metering strategy. Promote compliance with health and safety regulations and undertake other duties as required.
Experience Required
Electrical-based qualification – NVQ Level 3 or higher. Experience in commercial smart metering, BEMS, and energy management systems. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and PC-based systems for monitoring and diagnostics. Full UK driver’s licence. Excellent stakeholder management, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
Salary £40,000-£45,000
