Mid Level CAD Designer

Our client have a succesful Steel Beam business in St Albans and are looking for a mid level CAD Designer to join their busy and successful team.\n\nLiasiing between the clients, estimators, welder/fabricators and the wider team within the warehouse, you will be an integral part of the companies processes. Working with clients to get an understanding of their requiremnets, and providing suitable efficient designs for quotations to be created and provided to the customers. As a CAD Designer you will be working on a variety of projects for a mixture of house builders and contractors.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n * Produce accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models for steel structures, fabrications, and components.\n\n * Liaise closely with the sales, project management, and procurement teams to understand project requirements.\n\n * Interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and written instructions for steel fabrication and erection.\n\n * Revise and update CAD files in line with project and customer requirements, ensuring all technical data complies with relevant industry standards.\n\n * Participate in design meetings, providing technical input and solutions to optimise steelwork layouts and details.\n\n * Ensure all drawings and models are appropriately documented and archived in accordance with company processes.\n\n * Assist with the preparation of material and cutting lists for fabrication and procurement purposes.\n\n * Support colleagues in the Steels Department with technical queries related to CAD design.\n\nSkills and Experience – CAD Design & Structural Steel Expertise\n\n * Proficient user of industry-standard CAD software (Solidworks, Advance Steel, or equivalent 3d CAD software).\n\n * Previous experience producing steelwork or construction-related technical drawings (ideally minimum 1 year).\n\n * Familiarity with UK construction and steelwork industry standards and best practices.\n\n * High attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate work.\n\n * Clear communicator, able to present technical information to team members and clients.\n\n * Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.\n\n * Collaborative approach and willingness to learn new techniques or software as needed.\n\nThe hours of the role are as follows:\n\n * Monday to Friday 7am-4pm\n\n * 1 in 3 Saturday mornings 8am-12pm\n\nOur client are offering the following:\n\n * Basic salary of up to c£35k\n\n * Company bonus\n\n * Pension\n\n * 33 days holiday (including bank holidays)\n\n * Additional benefits such as company discounts, life assurance, cycle to work scheme, employee assistance program etc.\n\nIf you are experienced working with Solidworks, Tekkla, or Advanced Steel, have industry experience working designing construction projects, and are looking for a good company to join, please apply now to find out more
