Mobile Engineer - Electrical (Facilities Maintenance)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mobile Engineer with a strong electrical background to perform planned and reactive maintenance across multiple sites. The role involves maintaining electrical systems and supporting general facilities maintenance to ensure buildings operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations. The successful candidate will travel between sites to diagnose faults, perform repairs, and complete preventive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems and equipment.
Diagnose and repair faults in power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, and control panels.
Maintain and repair low-voltage electrical systems.
Test and inspect electrical installations to ensure safety and compliance.
Support maintenance of UPS systems, generators, and switchgear.

Facilities Maintenance

Perform general building maintenance tasks.
Conduct basic checks on HVAC systems, pumps, and motors.
Support maintenance of fire alarm and emergency systems.
Replace lighting and carry out minor plumbing or mechanical repairs when required.
Help maintain overall building services efficiency.

Mobile / Site Support

Travel between multiple sites to complete maintenance work.
Respond to reactive maintenance issues and emergency call-outs.
Ensure service delivery meets agreed SLAs and KPIs.

Compliance & Safety

Follow all health and safety procedures.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and service reports.
Ensure all work complies with electrical regulations and company policies.

Required Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification.
City & Guilds Electrical certification or similar.
Valid driving licence (required for mobile role).

Experience

Minimum 3 years experience in electrical maintenance or facilities management.
Experience working in commercial, industrial, or public buildings.
Experience with both PPM and reactive maintenance.

Skills

Strong electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of building systems including HVAC and BMS.
Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
Good communication and reporting skills.
Strong problem-solving ability.

Preferred

18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
Experience with BMS systems.
Facilities management industry experience.

Working Conditions

Mobile role covering multiple locations.
Occasional on-call or emergency work may be required.
Possible shift or weekend work depending on operational needs
