We are at the centre of the society’s tech strategy and the focal point for our current and future Kubernetes platform.As a MongoDB Database Administrator you will be working in project teams designing, building and maintaining MongoDB databases and infrastructure to provide strong business solutions. You will be involved at all stages from design, build to the support of both non-production and production environments. We are creating a learning culture at NBS and ongoing development is important and the opportunity to increase skills in technologies is encouraged. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.If you are based outside of our Swindon and London offices, there is the requirement to attend Swindon or London once a month for workshops, collaboration and ad/hoc meetings.If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.What you’ll be doingWorking within the delivery teams you will work collaboratively with others to build the best solutions for Nationwide using your technical leadership skills and SME knowledge to offer advice/consultancy, build systems and work through problems to provide solid working solutions within the Mongo DB space. Providing guidance and direction to less experienced Engineers to help create fit for purpose designs and/or solutions to meet the team objectives.You may be required to work on-call from time to time.About youYou will have a proven track record in providing technical delivery through the design, build and implementation of MongoDB and ideally you will have in depth knowledge & experience of the following:Operating system concepts of LinuxConfiguring and supporting MongoDB OpsManager for Backups and DeploymentsUnderstanding of MongoDB architecture, replication and shardingSupporting document based JSON data structures, exporting and importing documentsAssisting development and testing teams with troubleshooting within MongoDB and tuning performance, application workload and index recommendationsBe comfortable working across multiple projects and immersing yourself in a teamBe ready to share your expertise with our emerging talentExperience building relationships with both technical and business stakeholders, gaining their respect and trust based on your knowledge and professionalismHave the ability and desire to quickly learn new technologiesKnowledge and Experience of at least three of the below areas:Infrastructure as Code – (Ansible or similar)LDAP integrationExperience of/understanding of Red Hat OpenshiftExperience of/understanding of KafkaNetwork and infrastructure security conceptsAgile project management methodologies and scrum agile frameworkRegulatory environments such as PCI and GDPRNetwork and infrastructure security conceptsWorking with 3rd parties / suppliersOur Customer First behaviours are all about putting customers and members at the heart of how we work together.
