Motor Vehicle Tutor Alternative ProvisionWe are currently recruiting for a Motor Vehicle Tutor to support learners within an Alternative Provision setting. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to work with young people who require a more practical, engaging approach to education.This role is ideal for someone with hands-on mechanical experience who is confident working with disengaged students and can bring learning to life through practical delivery.The RoleYou will deliver engaging, practical sessions focused on motor vehicle maintenance and basic mechanical skills, supporting learners who benefit from a non-traditional classroom environment.The role will involve:Delivering practical, workshop-based sessions (e.g. small engines, basic mechanics, maintenance tasks)Supporting learners on a 1:1 or small group basisBuilding positive relationships with students who may be disengaged from mainstream educationEncouraging attendance, engagement and confidence through hands-on learningSupporting personal development, employability skills and progression pathwaysWorking collaboratively with pastoral and support staffAbout the LearnersYou will be working with young people who may:Have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needsBe at risk of exclusion or currently outside mainstream educationRequire additional support to engage with learningA calm, patient and consistent approach is essential.What Were Looking ForWe are open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, including:Motor mechanics / vehicle techniciansWorkshop engineers or hands-on tradesVocational tutors or instructorsYouth workers with practical skillsetsYou do not need to be a qualified teacher, but you must have:Strong practical mechanical knowledge (e.g. engines, maintenance, tools)Confidence managing behaviour and engaging young peopleA proactive and resilient approachThe ability to build rapport quickly and positivelyDesirable (but not essential)Experience working in education, training or youth settingsLevel 2/3 qualification in Motor Vehicle or similarUnderstanding of SEND / SEMH needsTeaching, training or assessing qualification (e.g. PTLLS, AET)Operam Education Groupincludes Provide Education | Teachers UK | Provision Recruitment | The Education Specialists | First for Education | Horizon Teachers | Key Stage Teacher SupplyWe're proud to be an inclusive employer, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds and committed to creating accessible opportunities across education.As part of our registration process, you'll need an enhanced DBS check and we'll need to see and copy your original qualifications before any placement.
