Job Title: Multi-Skilled Engineer

Location: Preston

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum

Shift Pattern: Flexible – Days preferred (open to shift patterns)

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Multi-Skilled Engineer with a slight electrical bias to join the engineering team. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of production by carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to breakdowns
  • Diagnose faults across electrical and mechanical systems
  • Work on automated production lines, conveyors, and processing equipment
  • Support production in minimising downtime and maximising efficiency
  • Assist with continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety and food safety standards


About You

  • Multi-skilled engineer with a recognised engineering qualification
  • Electrically biased with strong fault-finding skills (motors, sensors, PLCs)
  • Solid mechanical understanding (gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics)
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing or FMCG preferred
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible approach to working hours (days preferred, but open to shifts)
