Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer - Hertfordshire

Through their dedication to quality and customer satisfaction, they remain a trusted name in British households.Job Role & Key Responsibilities:Carry out both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a bakery production environment (ovens, mixers, packaging lines, gearboxes, pumps)Diagnose and repair electrical faults, minimising production downtimeInterpret and work from electrical diagrams and technical drawingsSupport mechanical breakdowns and assist the wider team with multi-skilled engineering tasksFault-find and troubleshoot electrical systems including inverters, motors, and PLCs (preferably Siemens)Ensure all work complies with health & safety standards and internal maintenance proceduresWork collaboratively with other engineers and production staff to ensure equipment reliability and optimal performanceTake part in continuous improvement initiatives to boost efficiency and plant uptimeUndergo ongoing technical training and developmentThe ideal candidate:Electrically qualified: NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (essential)Proven experience working in a multi-skilled maintenance role with strong electrical biasConfident in electrical fault finding, interpreting wiring diagrams, and working with control panelsComfortable with 3-phase motors, inverters, and PLC fault finding (preferably Siemens)Familiar with working in FMCG or fast-paced industrial settingsA flexible team player with good problem-solving and communication skillsWilling and able to complete an electrical competency test during the interview processDesirable Skills:Previous experience in food, FMCG, or packaging industriesStrong understanding of industrial electrical systems, automation, and controlsExperience with STAR-DELTA circuits, current flow analysis, and component troubleshootingAdditional mechanical knowledge (gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, etc.)Ability to work under pressure and within tight production schedulesBenefits include:Excellent holiday package, including fair balance for 4 on / 4 off shiftsGenerous pension schemeDiscounted company productsSubsidised canteenCycle to work schemeHealth & wellness benefits (Simply Health discounts on dental, optical, etc.)Death in service benefit (up to 4x salary)Refer-a-friend bonus schemeFlexible and family-friendly working policiesEmployee Assistance Programme - confidential advice and supportSave the Children charity partnership opportunitiesFree onsite parking and excellent public transport linksIf you are interested in this exciting opportunity, please get in touch with us or apply below!JBRP1_UKTJ
