Multi-Skilled Engineer

Department: Engineering
Location: Chilled Food Manufacturing Facility
Salary: £54,000 per annum
Shift Pattern: Rotating Days & Nights 4 on / 4 off
Hours: 12-hour shifts

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Multi-Skilled Engineer to join a state-of-the-art chilled food manufacturing facility. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer looking to progress their career within a fast-growing business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on production equipment.

  • Diagnose faults and carry out timely, effective repairs to minimise downtime.

  • Maintain and improve a wide range of food packaging and processing machinery, including:

    • Conveyor systems

    • Heat sealers

    • Netting and flow-wrapping machines

    • Coding and labelling systems

    • Bucket fillers

    • Strapping machines

  • Work closely with Production teams to support operational performance.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to Technical and Machine Operators.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine reliability and efficiency.

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety and food safety standards.

Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer within a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment (ideally food manufacturing).

  • Formal Electrical Engineering qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3, Engineering Apprenticeship, or Food & Drink Apprenticeship Standard).

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability across electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Experience maintaining standard industry machinery, including conveyor systems, bucket fillers, and strapping machines.

  • Demonstrated experience driving continuous improvement activities.
