Maintenance Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical)

A well-established manufacturing company is seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team. This role is ideal for an experienced individual with a strong background in both electrical and mechanical systems, particularly within an automotive or industrial environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and reliability of production equipment through both reactive and preventative maintenance. Working closely with manufacturing and continuous improvement teams, the engineer will play a key role in driving efficiency and minimising downtime.

Key responsibilities include:

Electrical and mechanical breakdown support across site equipment
Planning and execution of preventative maintenance activities
Prioritising, validating, and completing maintenance requests
Managing spare parts (critical and non-critical) with a cost-effective, budget-conscious approach
Maintaining accurate equipment history and maintenance records for continuous improvement
Using maintenance KPIs to identify trends and implement improvement plans
Programming, operating, and fault-finding on ABB robots
Diagnosing faults within Siemens PLC systems and carrying out modifications for process improvements
Coordinating with manufacturing teams on equipment modifications and future installations
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives alongside the CI team
Identifying and resolving customer-related engineering concerns
Candidate Requirements

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Proven experience with ABB robotics and Siemens TIA Portal fault diagnostics
Strong ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics
Experience across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Time-served apprenticeship (desirable)
Automotive or similar manufacturing background preferred
Knowledge of root cause analysis and structured problem solving
Good IT skills and ability to maintain accurate records
