The Opportunity We are recruiting on behalf of a global leader in sustainable paper and packaging for a Multiskilled Shift Engineer (Mechanical Bias) to join their high-performing engineering team at their Weston-super-Mare manufacturing site.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced FMCG Engineer to join a forward-thinking organisation that places strong emphasis on safety, quality, sustainability, reliability engineering and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will play a key role in increasing machine uptime, improving asset reliability, and supporting site operations through proactive and reactive engineering support.
Key Responsibilities Provide a proactive engineering service to the Site Operations Team
Lead and support breakdown response and fault resolution
Increase machine uptime and reliability during shift
Support and develop preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
Assist with planned maintenance (PPM) schedules
Work collaboratively across Engineering, Conversion, Corrugator and Despatch departments
Order and manage engineering spares and parts
Liaise with OEMs and external engineering suppliers when required
Use and support SAP PM systems for maintenance planning and reporting
Deliver mechanical and electrical engineering support to machine operatives
Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Maintain high standards in health & safety, quality and compliance
Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required Essential: Minimum 5 years experience in an FMCG / manufacturing / industrial environment
Mechanical bias with strong multiskilled capability
Strong breakdown, fault-finding and diagnostic skills
Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic and steam systems
Fault finding on AC & DC drives (Siemens, xehkeey ABB, SSD, etc.)
Knowledge of PLC systems including Siemens S5, S7 and Allen Bradley
Experience using CMMS systems (SAP PM preferred)
Ability to work on a 4-shift rotation
Strong communication skills
Team player with cross-department collaboration experience
