The Role

We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer with a strong electrical bias to join our engineering team in Oxford. You will be responsible for ensuring maximum equipment uptime, carrying out planned maintenance, and responding quickly to breakdowns in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on production machinery
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults including motors, drives, sensors, PLCs and control systems
  • Support mechanical maintenance tasks when required
  • Work collaboratively with production teams to minimise downtime
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability projects
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with company procedures

Requirements

  • Recognised electrical engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing / industrial maintenance environment
  • Strong fault-finding skills on electrical systems and control panels
  • Basic mechanical competence (bearings, belts, gearboxes, etc.)
  • Experience with PLC fault finding (desirable)
  • Ability to work shifts including nights and weekends
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
