Purpose of the Role
Were looking for a dedicated, compassionate Multi-Specialist Advocate to join our Blackburn with Darwen team. This is a rewarding and varied role providing independent, person-led advocacy for adults, children and young people, helping them express their views, understand their rights, and influence the outcomes that matter to them.
You will be contractually home-based, but your heart will be in the community, meeting people where they are, building trust, and ensuring professionals listen.
Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one instructed advocacy in line with legal frameworks and N-Compass policies, supporting people to express their wishes and achieve the outcomes they want.
Deliver non-instructed advocacy where people have substantial difficulty participating or lack capacity, ensuring rights and best interests are central to every conversation.
Complete initial screenings, risk assessments and safeguarding checks when taking on new referrals.
Manage your own caseload, meeting service standards, KPIs and timescales with professionalism and independence.
Clearly explain the role of advocacy (and its boundaries), and signpost individuals to appropriate support when needed.
Produce clear, timely written reports, case notes and summaries that reflect the persons voice and support safeguarding and audit requirements.

Statutory Advocacy (Adults)

Deliver IMCA, DoLS advocacy (where commissioned), and Care Act advocacy in line with legislation and statutory guidance.
Provide Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) in hospital wards and in the community, supporting people to understand their rights under the Mental Health Act.

Independent Health Complaints Advocacy

Support people to make complaints about NHS-funded care, ensuring their voice and desired outcomes are at the centre.
Explain complaints processes clearly, assist with letters, evidence, meeting notes and communication with NHS bodies.
Maintain accurate records of actions, outcomes and next steps.

Childrens & Young Peoples Advocacy

Provide age-appropriate, trauma-informed advocacy to children and young people, ensuring their voice is prioritised in all decisions affecting them.
Apply knowledge of child protection processes and relevant legislation to support them effectively.
Support young people to understand choices, rights, meetings and reviews, and help them raise concerns or complaints where needed.
Work sensitively with parents, carers and professionals while maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding requirements.
