About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, commercially driven National Sales Manager (Wastewater) to lead our sales strategy across the UK.
This is a high‑impact position, responsible for achieving sales growth, strengthening customer partnerships and representing the business at strategic, operational and commercial levels.
You will drive solution‑based sales of wastewater capital equipment, spares and service offerings, while providing key leadership input across Sales, Marketing and Business Development as part of the senior management team.
Experience & Industry Knowledge
You Will Bring
Significant sales experience within the UK Water & Wastewater industry
Background in solution selling (capital equipment, spares, service)
Strong understanding of:
Market structure
Key industrial and municipal customers
Proven experience building long‑term customer relationships
Sales Skills & Achievements
Track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets
Highly self‑motivated with the ability to work independently
Strong negotiation, pipeline management and closing capability
Technical & System Skills
Proficiency in ERP/CRM systems for account management and forecasting
Understanding of contract terms, including NEC3/NEC4 (desirable)
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication
Confident presenting to customers at all levels
Strong relationship‑building skills with technical and commercial stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
In This Role, You Will
Develop, implement and deliver a sales plan to exceed targets
Generate leads, assess client needs, manage trials, quote, follow up and close salesManage all aspects of the sales cycle, including aftersales service requirements
Build and strengthen customer relationships, ensuring needs are fully understood and met
Use and maintain Microsoft CRM to manage accounts and pipeline
Promote Hydro’s wastewater solutions to technical and commercial decision‑makers
Complete all sales reporting, forecasting and CRM documentation
Act as a key member of the business senior management team, providing input into strategy
Work closely with Proposals, Capital Delivery and other internal teams to deliver a seamless customer experience
Prepare and deliver pitches, presentations and technical proposals
Attend industry trade shows, events and targeted marketing campaigns
Gather and share market insights, trends and customer feedback to influence future offerings
Ensure compliance with BS EN ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 standards
Take responsibility for Health, Safety and Environmental performance within your remit
Carry out any other reasonable duties required by the business
