Naval Architect Consultant \nPlymouth\n6-12 Month Contract\nOutside IR35\n \nCertain Advantage is working with an Engineering Company who is supporting facilities engineering and major infrastructure projects."\n \nOur client is looking to expand their Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture team. An initial 6-12 month sub-contract opportunity is available for a Naval Architect in the Plymouth area. Someone with understanding of ship stability, structural behaviour and marine systems.\n \nJob Description\nThe Naval Architect will work together with the customer to maintain and develop dockyard capabilities that support the safe and efficient operation of ships, boats and marine systems.\nThis role may include but is not limited to: supporting assessments, conducting small craft or dock surveys, contributing to marine system design and modifications, supporting mooring and stability calculations and producing technical documentation to enable operations and development activities across the dockyard.\n \n Key Responsibilities:\n\nUndertake naval architecture analyses, including mooring, stability, towing and structural assessments, for vessels and floating infrastructure.\nSupport design, modification and development projects that enhance dockyard operational capabilities and infrastructure and help improve safety and reliability.\nConduct on-site surveys and inspection of vessels, docks, basins and associated marine assets.\nApply knowledge of marine classification and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance in dockyard operations.\nPrepare and deliver clear technical reports, calculations and supporting documentation.\nCollaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams including structural, mechanical, electrical and project engineers.\nBe adaptable, as project requirements evolve, balancing time, cost and quality constraints and ensure relevant parties are notified of changes in the project. \nQualifications & Experience\n\nBachelor’s degree (minimum) in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or a closely related discipline.\nUnderstanding of ship stability, structural behaviour and marine systems.\nAwareness of dockyard operations, vessel servicing and floating infrastructure.\nExperience with classification rules and regulatory frameworks (e.g.
Lloyd’s Register)\nAbility to interpret and produce technical drawings, reports and engineering calculations.\nFamiliarity with CAD software and basic structural or hydrostatic analysis tools.\nGood written and verbal communication skills, listens effectively, works collaboratively and clarifies information as needed
