Overview: My client is seeking an experienced Consultant Naval Architect to lead and deliver a certification strategy for a gas turbine powerplant installation on a warship platform. This project will ensure full compliance with Lloyd’s Register Naval Ship Rules (NSR) 2020 and requires close collaboration with multiple stakeholders including OEMs, suppliers, and Lloyds Register representatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Define and interpret Lloyd’s Register requirements applicable to the warship powerplant.

Develop a comprehensive certification strategy based on prior frameworks.

Plan and lead certification activities across design, build, and approval phases.

Liaise directly with Lloyd’s Register to gain agreement on approach and execution.

Coordinate and define communication pathways between OEM build lines, purchasing teams, and design authorities.

Support creation and agreement of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) between suppliers and Lloyds representatives.

Assess substantiation and design documentation to secure Drawing Approval Documents (DADs).
