New Business Trading Underwriter - Property and Liability Leeds We are looking for a Trading Underwriter with Property and Liability experience to join our New Business team in Leeds. This role is focused on writing quality, profitable business and building long term broker relationships in the regional market. You will have clear underwriting authority and manage your own new business portfolio, with support available for more complex risks. The role offers real exposure to broker trading, technical decision making, and portfolio ownership within a large, established insurer. A bit about the job:

Underwriting profitable new business across Property and Liability within agreed authority levels Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and key customers Making sound technical and commercial underwriting decisions Providing clear and timely technical guidance to brokers and internal stakeholders Managing and developing your own portfolio to deliver growth and performance targets Working closely with colleagues across trading, underwriting, and operations to achieve the best customer outcomes

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

Proven experience underwriting Property and Liability risks in the commercial or mid market space Strong broker facing and relationship management skills Confident decision making and a commercial mindset Good understanding of FCA regulation and underwriting governance Experience working within a large or complex insurance organisation

Due to this being a role in scope for Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) it is a prerequisite that you are not currently bankrupt and do not have an unspent conviction for a serious criminal offence, in applying for this role you are certifying that you satisfy both of these requirements.
