Nuclear Safety Engineer Client: BAE Systems Location: Barrow-in-Furness Duration: 6 months Hourly Rate: £55.31 PAYE or £74.68 Umbrella Working Arrangements: Hybrid working About the Role BAE Systems is looking for a Principal Engineer – Product Safety to join our Submarines team in Barrow.

This is a highly visible role where you'll apply your engineering expertise to ensure the safety, compliance, and effectiveness of submarine systems and components.
You'll work independently or as part of a small team, providing technical leadership and guidance, and occasionally leading other engineers.
Key Responsibilities Undertake technical reviews and verify/sign engineering designs Provide guidance and direction to engineers, supporting their development Define qualification obligations for assurance hold points during build, test, and commissioning Ensure Safety Cases and supporting documentation are robust, compliant, and fit for purpose Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to incorporate requirements where appropriate Promote and share technical expertise, approaches, and standards across xehkeey the business Skills and Experience Chartered Engineer (Eng) or equivalent capability Extensive experience in safety or environmental engineering, preferably in complex systems or submarine environments Strong technical leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
