Are you looking for a career where you can make a real difference in peoples day.We are seeking an Occupational Safety Manager Trainee to join our team based from our Head Office in London Bridge (hybrid working).This role will provide expert health and safety leadership across Southeastern, supporting teams to deliver the HSMS, annual H&S plan, and safety objectives. It will act as a key point of contact for managers and external stakeholders, drive effective safety reporting and compliance, support occupational safety standards and risk assessments, and help maintain ISO 45001 accreditation.Can you move people? Apply now.What youll doAct as support to Leadership teams in relation to Occupational Safety InitiativesManage the system for document control to ensure all documents are validated, tracked and issuedAct as secretary to Health Safety & Security Board (HSSB/JSC), taking accountability for preparation of the meeting pack and production of meeting minutes.Responsible for development of generic risk assessments, associated safe systems of work and COSHH across all Functions.Support the development of Southeastern's health and safety management system, policies and standards, including safety communications and support to line managers to deliver an excellent safety culture throughout the company.Provide regular reports that provide senior managers and executive teams with trend analysis that will allow decisions to be taken form an informed perspective.Develop the process for ensuring that significant incidents and accidents, including significant environmental events, are investigated appropriately and that recommendations are recorded, reviewed and tracked to give assurance the intention has been fulfilled.The experience youll needTo be considered for this role we recommend you demonstrate the below in your application;Strong influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to present clear, persuasive safety arguments at all levels.Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex safety issues clearly and ensure understanding.Proven problem-solving capability, with strong analytical and investigatory skills to identify risks and make sound decisions.High attention to detail, with a methodical and thorough approach to safety management.Able to obtain recognised qualification in occupational safety (at least NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent) with a practical understanding of the application of those principles within the railway industry.Able to obtain professional membership of IOSH or equivalent to Chartered level.Able to obtain recognised qualification in accident/ incident investigation (PPWD, Arthur D Little or equivalent)Able to obtain National Diploma in Railway Operations (Institute of Railway Operators) or equivalent desirable.As proud members of the ArmedForcesCovenant and DisabilityConfidentScheme, we will offer you an interview if you apply under these schemes and meet the minimum criteria for the role.
