Operations & Engineering Manager role in a small manufacturing company.
* Based in North Devon, England.
* Company size approximately 10 employees.
* Requires engineering/manufacturing background and management experience.
* Reports directly to the Managing Director.
* Responsible for overseeing and improving daily operations & engineering.
* Hands-on role combining management and operational involvement.
* Ensure work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
* Plan and coordinate daily manufacturing and engineering activities.
* Manage workflow, production capacity, and job scheduling.
* Work closely with the sales team to meet customer deadlines.
* Ensure efficient use of labour, materials, and equipment.
* Troubleshoot operational issues and remove production bottlenecks.
* Provide hands-on support on the shop floor when required.
* Line manage production and workshop staff.
* Allocate work, set priorities, and monitor staff performance.
* Promote a positive, practical, safety-focused culture.
* Ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation.
* Maintain risk assessments, safe systems of work, and method statements.
* Ensure compliance with relevant industry and customer standards.
* Oversee quality control and ensure work meets specifications.
* Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost control.
* Coordinate purchasing, stock control, and supplier relationships.
* Work with the Managing Director on production planning, costs, and margins.
* Track KPIs related to delivery, efficiency, and quality.
* Salary £40,000–£50,000 plus pension and statutory holidays
