Job Description
We Build Recruitment are currently looking to recruit a Operations Manager which acts as the second-in-command to the Operations Director, taking ownership of the day-to-day operational delivery across all four sectors which includes Fit Out Refurbishment, Planned Maintenance, FRA works and NICEIC Projects.\n\nThe purpose of the role is to:\n\nReduce daily operational burden on the Operations Director\n\nDrive consistency, compliance, and efficiency\n\nStrengthen oversight and performance across all project streams\n\nEnsure processes, systems, and reporting operate at a scalable, professional standard\n\nSupport delivery of construction excellence and client satisfaction\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLeadership & Operational Oversight\n\n * Oversee day-to-day operations across all four divisions.\n\n * Lead and support Contracts Managers, Site Managers, and project teams.\n\n * Coordinate between QS, procurement, H&S, commercial, and delivery teams.\n\n * Act as an escalation point for operational issues.\n\nPerformance, Process & Compliance\n\n * Ensure compliance with QMS (ISO9001) and construction legislation.\n\n * Improve and embed operational processes and reporting.\n\n * Support rollout of automation and Microsoft 365 optimisation.\n\n * Champion strong H&S KPI performance using Notify.\n\nProject Delivery & Programme Management\n\n * Maintain oversight of programmes, milestones, and progress.\n\n * Ensure timely client reporting (weekly/monthly).\n\n * Monitor subcontractor performance for quality and safety.\n\n * Identify delivery risks and implement corrective actions.\n\nCommercial & Financial Support\n\n * Collaborate with QS teams on variations, valuations, and cost controls.\n\n * Support margin protection and cashflow awareness.\n\n * Report operational performance to the Operations Director.\n\nClient Relationship & Stakeholder Management\n\n * Maintain strong professional relationships with Tier 1 clients.\n\nKey Skills & Competencies\n\n * Leadership and people management\n\n * Construction operations management across multi-trade environments\n\n * Knowledge of UK compliance, H&S legislation, RAMS\n\n * Ability to implement systems, processes, and digital tools\n\n * Strong communication and organisational skills\n\n * Commercial awareness and risk/margin understanding\n\n * Calm under pressure and effective multi-tasking\n\n * Client-facing professionalism\n\nQualifications & Experience\n\n * 5+ years’ experience in construction operations or senior project management\n\n * Experience managing multiple workstreams or divisions\n\n * Track record with Tier 1 contractors or similar
