Job Description
We are looking for a proactive, energetic and experienced candidate to add to our Service Delivery team in a highly important role at our spoke in Walthamstow. This Operations Manager role, requires a background in distribution, fleet or logistics management on a large scale. Proven experience in people management, including; coaching and team development. Experience of building and fleet management and a history of dealing with budgets and target setting on a large scale, are all a must for this role.
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager for Service Delivery, Operations Managers here at Ocado Logistics are responsible for the successful running and operation of the spoke. You will also be working to ensure that our employees follow safe practices, work in a safe environment and that our customers receive outstanding, consistent and industry leading service.
Duties will include but are not restricted to:
Leading, motivating and supporting large teams within time-sensitive and demanding operational environments Contributing to setting the site and regional strategies Leading the operation and identifying innovative ways in which to serve our customers and conduct our business Managing your team’s resource level, and preparing budgets and plans against expected volumes Communicating effectively to your team, informing them of key business results, continuous improvement initiatives, and important messages regarding process, people and Health and Safety Working closely with other support teams (Agency partners, HR, Planning, Engineering, Facilities and Safety Team) to achieve Site and Operations network targets. Continuously encouraging self-improvement, training and development of your teams to support succession planning Championing the process of continuous improvement, guiding your team in delivering initiatives to make our customer experience even better Challenging and amending performance metrics to deliver improvements to productivity and standards Ensuring food safety mechanisms that protect product quality are adhered to Providing comprehensive handovers to subsequent managers; presenting operating highlights, risks and opportunities
This role involves working predominantly Monday to Friday. However full flexibility is needed and this role will include regularly being on call for weekends and the ability to adjust working hours depending on the needs of the business and to allow the proper completion of your duties.
About you
Naturally you are an excellent communicator and have good numerical skills, both verbal and written. Previous experience in a management role is essential and previous experience in a 24/7 logistical operations environment is desired.
You thrive working in an KPI driven environment and are quick thinking so can react to changing situations. You will also have experience in leading large and diverse teams in a fast paced environment. High levels of knowledge of ER policies and procedures and people management. Have a working knowledge of computerised management systems and an ability to analyse and work to a strategic level. High levels of PC/Microsoft package literacy, as well as experience and knowledge of best practice Health & Safety ways of working are a must for this role. You will be purposeful and motivated; leading by example in stretching both yourself and your team and be resilient, self motivated, reliable and flexible. You will have high levels of organisational skills and the ability to deal with budgets and target setting.
