Location:Kent (Hybrid)
Salary:£50,000 - £65,000 (dependent on experience)
An established engineering company specialising in advanced electro-optical and precision sensing systems is seeking anOptronics Systems Engineerto join its multidisciplinary development team.
The organisation designs and manufactures high-precision platforms used to integrate optical sensors into demanding operational environments. Their systems combine optics, precision mechanics, electronics and control software, and are used in applications where accurate sensor alignment, stability and calibration are critical.
This role sits at the intersection ofoptics, mechanical engineering and systems integration, ensuring that optical sensors perform correctly once integrated into complex hardware systems.
The Role
The successful candidate will support the development and integration of electro-optical sensing systems from concept through to testing and delivery.
Responsibilities will include:
Defining and managingsystem-level requirementsfor electro-optical sensing systems
Supporting theintegration of optical sensors with mechanical and electronic subsystems
Definingoptical alignment and calibration procedures
Working closely with mechanical and electronics engineers to ensure designs meet system performance requirements
Supportingprototype builds, integration and system testing
Investigating and resolving performance issues during development and validation
Working with external sensor suppliers to ensure successful integration into the overall system architecture
Supporting verification and validation activities to confirm system performance
Key Skills & Experience
Candidates should have experience working on complex hardware systems involving optics or sensor technologies.
Relevant experience may include:
Electro-optical or optical sensing systems
Optical alignment and calibration
Opto-mechanical or electro-mechanical system integration
Precision instrumentation or sensor platforms
System-level engineering in multidisciplinary environments
Experience working withcameras, imaging systems, laser sensors, or other optical instrumentationwould be beneficial.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to work onhigh-precision sensing platformswithin a collaborative engineering environment. The role would suit someone who enjoys working at asystem level, bringing together optics, mechanics and electronics to deliver complex hardware solutions.
