The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the UK’s leading orchestras, seeks a highly motivated Orchestral Personnel Manager.
The Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the UK’s leading orchestras, seeks a highly motivated Orchestral Personnel Manager. The Orchestra performs regularly in Oxford and London and has an expanding touring programme overseas. The role will focus mainly on booking and contracting of Oxford Philharmonic orchestral players for performances, tours and recordings as directed by the Music Director, according to MU and the orchestra’s own regulations.
This is a permanent, full-time role, based in our London office with some hybrid working possible. The holiday entitlement is 20 days plus 8 bank holidays. Regular travel to Oxford will be required (on average twice per month). Some evening and weekend work will be necessary for rehearsals and concerts. An in-lieu scheme is in place to cover out-of-hours working.
The successful candidate will be given intensive training in using the Orchestra’s database systems.
- Booking and contracting musicians for all Oxford Philharmonic concerts
- Sending schedules to musicians of the Orchestra and ensuring their practical requirements on concert days are met
- Assisting the Music Director with his correspondence and diary management
- Assisting musicians with visa and travel requirements
- Preparing monthly payments for orchestral players, and processing player invoices
- Work with other members of the concerts management team to provide back-stage support at concerts and other events
Essential abilities/qualifications:
- Experience working in the classical music business
- Excellent IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using databases
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise a large number of varied tasks with multiple deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise with professional musicians
- Very good attention to detail
- Ability to work calmly under pressure
- Ability to deal thoughtfully and professionally with delicate situations
- Good knowledge of and active interest in classical music
Desirable abilities/qualifications:
- Degree in music
- Experience in an Orchestra/Concerts Management role
The role will be based in our North London office.Competitive salary according to experience. Exceptional candidates may be invited to interview before the closing date.
